Special Education/Autism Assistant

 

Applicants that would thrive in this position 

  • Those with background in education, childcare, developmental disabilities, and/or a strong interest in working with children

  • Experience or interest in teaching children with ADHD, ASD, and/or intellectual disabilities 

  • A strong desire to begin or continue education in teaching children with different abilities

  • An ability to adapt to different learner’s needs 

  • Ability to implement changes based on client preference immediately


 

Qualifications

  • Relevant experience teaching children with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (preferred) 

  • Experience working with students with challenging behaviors (preferred)

  • Experience writing and/or implementing behavior plans  (preferred)

  • Knowledge of relevant technology

  • Excellent Verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent Critical thinking skills

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment 

  • Attention to detail

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Must be willing to obtain Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification

 

Responsibilities 

  • work with children with autism and various developmental delays and help them to achieve their goals

  • actively communicate with BCBAS, RBTs, teaching staff, program director

  • review and discuss behavior data

 

  • implement behavior and treatment plans with fidelity 

  • ability to manage challenging behaviors with the support of staff and a behavior plan

  • work successfully both independently and as part of a team

 

Special Education Teacher

Full Time Position

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelors degree or higher from an accredited institution; masters preferred

  • Relevant experience teaching children with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder

  • Experience working with students with challenging behaviors

  • Experience writing and/or implementing behavior plans  

  • Knowledge of relevant technology

  • Excellent Verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent Critical thinking skills

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment 

  • Attention to detail

  • Excellent organization skillset

  • Must be willing to obtain Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification

 

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences

  • Collect data on student goals 

  • Implement behavior plan procedures

  • Develop functional and meaningful lesson plans for preschool and elementary aged students

  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities

  • Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities

  • Identify and select different instructional resources and methods to meet needs of students with special learning needs

  • Use relevant technology to support instruction

  • Coordinate and lead parent meetings

  • Communicate regularly with Executive Director and with staff regarding students’ needs and how they may best be met

  • Provide parents with report cards throughout the year

  • Support maintaining skills during the summer

Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)

Job Type: Full-time or part time options available

Certification: RBT Certification in process or completed *may complete certification through SEED program
